ClearClause is a browser extension that detects Terms of Service and Privacy Policy text on web pages you visit and provides a plain English summary with a risk grade.
When you click "Analyze This Page", ClearClause reads the visible text content of the current page. It only reads text — it does not access your cookies, passwords, browsing history, form inputs, or any other personal data.
The extracted page text is sent to the Anthropic API (Claude) for analysis. This is the only external service ClearClause communicates with. The text is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection and is used solely to generate the ToS summary you see in the popup.
ClearClause temporarily caches analysis results in your browser's local storage so you don't have to wait for a repeat analysis on the same page. This cache is cleared automatically when you reload the page. No data is stored on any external server.
ClearClause uses the Anthropic API to analyze text. Page text sent to Anthropic is subject to their privacy policy. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models.
